And this is how the final cover looked. Doesn’t it make your mouth water just looking at it?

In the end the pictures were put together in Photoshop changing the scale, the contrast and the colours. Also the sky was replaced by a computer-generated image. Finally the picture was retouched. We made two final versions: one with the pink candy clouds, and one without.

Consequently we started to build the actual scene. Especially the palm trees were quite a hassle to build.

Also the sweets were very hard to resist and we couldn’t help eating some during work 😉

Holland Herald sketch – 1

KLM asked us to make an illustration for the cover of their Inflight magazine KLM Herald. The theme of the glossy was SWEET and we were asked to make an image that would communicate a feeling of summer, vacation and candy.

Thus we thought up a tabletop scene of two tourists relaxing on a tropical candy island build from sweets and cookies.

After having bought lots of different sweets we tried out several arrangements. Finally we proposed this sketch.
